Matters needing attention:
The lock should be fitted to the door or gate once it has been hung and all necessary adjustments have been made. The lock body should be mounted on the inside (secure side) of the gate, with just the barrel showing outside to prevent tampering with the lock.
Work out the position the lock should be mounted and mark the centre of the barrel position on the gate accordingly. The lock must be mounted with the cam holes in the bar facing downwards to avoid water ingress. The lock body should be no less than 5 mm from the edges of the gate, and the throw of the lock needs to reach across to secure the gate. Check the other side of the gate to ensure the hole is in a suitable position.
Next, drill a 26 mm hole in the gate with an auger or flat drill bit. Make sure the hole is drilled level and straight for the best performance of the lock. Drill through until the central point of the drill bit protrudes out on the back, then finish the hole off from the back side to avoid splintering the timber.
